Welcome to the Rural &
Regional As it is with any urban centre, quality healthcare and access to essential medical services is equally significant to the individuals and communities of rural and regional Alberta. Providing excellent health services and educated providers in these communities is also important to the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. In June 2006, the Faculty established the Office of Rural & Regional Health (ORRH) to coordinate rural and regional initiatives and support the development of new programs that are key to the continued offering of quality healthcare in rural and regional Alberta. The Office of Rural & Regional Health seeks to weave rural/regional health through the medical education and training of medical students and residents. The goal is that each individual would gain an in-depth understanding of the unique challenges and sense of fulfillment a physician gains while working in Alberta’s vibrant rural and regional communities.
** The Office of Rural & Regional Health gratefully acknowledges the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, the Rural Physician Action Plan and Alberta Health & Wellness for the on-going financial and academic support of rural based programs and initiatives. ** |
